Rudolf Diesel
Rudolf Diesel was born in Paris. After graduation he had a job as a refrigerator engineer however that was not where his interest was. Diesel was highly interested in engine design. Rudolf designed many heat engines, including a solar-powered air engine. He is known for his invention of the pressure-ignited heat engine (the diesel engine). Wikipedia defines a diesel engine as an internal combustion engine that uses the heat of compression to initiate ignition to burn the fuel that has been rejected into the combustion chamber. In 1897, after solving a few problems with his new invention, he had made a 25 horsepower, four-stroke, single cylinder compression engine. The diesel engine was made to be put in and to to drive, automobiles, marine engines, trains, electric power generation, factories, farm machinery, mining, and oil drilling apparatus. This engine is said to be more energy efficient, quieter and also requires less maintenance and repairs compared to the gasoline engine
